Due
to the esteem of faux paint colors and availability of huge collection of
specialty finishes and tools in various paint stores, not only lightening wall
paint but also adding interest and depth became possible for everyone. In place
of repainting dark walls, you can also lighten and modify the color of wall painting. From glazing to washing colors and from sponging
to ragging, you have limited options. In both materials and time, a lot of
techniques will need a little investment and will deliver more attractive and
lighter finish.
What You Need?
·
Paint
·
Faux glaze
·
2” blue painting tape
·
Buckets
·
Drop cloths
·
3” or 4” paint brush
How to Do It?
1. Clean
up the wall you want to refinish and have it in almost good condition. Slight
imperfections might be hidden by a faux finishing, but you should nail holes, fix
cracks and other general tasks before you continue. Prime the repairs or
caulking with dark color of two coats.
2.
Use faux technique. You have a lot of
options to choose but color wash is one of the easiest techniques. If you have
paint of any dark color, then consider using it to paint cardboard to
experiment with this technique before you continue on walls.
3.
Make sure to remember that you will cover
only 350 to 400 sq. ft. per gallon of glaze and paint. Use wall color’s lighter
shade and mix with faux glaze.
4.
A lot of wall painters in Dubai find out the idea ratio. The more paint added,
the less transparent will be the finish. You can have very translucent and
subtle effect with one qt. of wall paint in a glaze’s gallon. You can have
lighter and more opaque finishing by reversing it. Mix enough that entire room
can be covered.
5.
Prepare area where you want to paint. Mask
opposite and trim walls with blue tape of 2 inches. Remove artwork, window décor,
keep furniture away and cover plates and use drop cloths to protect floors.
6.
Use 3” to 4” paint brush to apply glaze avoid
over-painting in one area by painting in choppy, random strokes. Use lighter
touch and you can easily go back when it is dried. Fix muddy like or heavy
texture by including light spots.
7.
Let the finishing dry overnight or around 8
hours before you put the entire room again.
